Stainless Steel Plate & Sheet Grades
At Tell Steel, our ready-to-ship inventory includes three grades of stainless steel plate & sheet: SS 304, SS 310, and SS 316. While all of these grades feature excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and weldability, each has unique properties that suit different industrial applications.SS Plate & Sheet Grade 304
Stainless steel 304 is the most common and versatile grade of Stainless. It has good resistance against atmospheric corrosion as well moderately aggressive acids while also being able to stand most fresh water conditions. Stainless steel 304 plates are used for numerous industrial applications, including construction materials, transportation components, and countless general applications.SS Plate & Sheet Grade 310
Stainless steel 310 has higher corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures compared to other stainless grades in the 300 series, able to withstand continuous use up to 1922°F (1050°C). This makes 310 stainless steel plate a popular option for high-temperature applications, including furnace parts, heat exchangers, and more. With the increased resistance at elevated temperatures, 310 stainless steel is not meant for use in wet, corrosive environments like exposure to saltwater or chemical processing.SS Plate & Sheet Grade 316
Stainless steel 316 has the highest corrosion resistance compared to 310 and 304, thanks to the addition of molybdenum in its makeup.
