Abrasion Resisting Plate (AR, AR-400, AR-500)
AR400 was designed for exceptional durability where abrasion was the primary cause of material failure. It has a Brinell hardness range of 360-440BHN. The key alloying elements in AR400 are used for specific purposes. Chromium increases corrosion resistance and hardenability, wear resistance and abrasion resistance. Molybdenum increases hardenability as well, but also reduces risk of temper brittleness. This steel offers excellent wear and impact durability. It has yield strength of 155,000psi, a Tensile strength of 180,000 psi, and 14% elongation in 2?. AR400 is typically used where high wear resistance in needed as in digger blades and buckets, mining machinery, and heavy machinery.
AR-400 Plate is a quenched and tempered high strength alloy steel which has superior abrasion resistance and toughness. AR-400 alloy steel will reduce material handling costs to a minimum for earth moving, mining and other similar industries in which a combination of toughness and abrasion resistance is required. Typical uses are wear plates, truck bodies, chute liners and storage bin liners.
AR500 is a medium carbon, manganese alloy with moderate Brinell hardness. It is a quench and tempered high strength alloy steel which has superior abrasion resistance and toughness. It was designed for wear and impact resistance with outstanding corrosion and fatigue resistance. Its Brinell hardness ranges from 460-544BHN. This premium steel is heat treated for through hardening with improved welding capabilities. Given the high strength of the plate forming is possible but difficult. It has a tensile strength of 225,000 psi, yield strength of 200,000psi and 12% elongation in 2?. AR-500 alloy steel will reduce material handling costs to a minimum for earth moving, mining and other similar industries in which a combination of toughness and abrasion resistance is required. Because of its exceptional durability in slide wear, rub wear and heavy wear it is used in mining equipment, truck trailer industry, concrete and aggregate industries.
AR-500 Plate (500 Nominal Brinell Hardness) is a quench and tempered high strength alloy steel which has superior abrasion resistance and toughness. AR-500 alloy steel will reduce material handling costs to a minimum for earth moving, mining and other similar industries in which a combination of toughness and abrasion resistance is required. Typical uses are wear plates, truck bodies, chute liners and storage bin liners.
